Kopernik has Finally Separated
from Roberson Museum!

Update (7/16/07): Attendance is up at Kopernik as of late, and it's smiles all around. The open nights on Fridays have seen decent participation, and Link 1A, the first of the Kopernik Summer programs had 28 participants, 12 of which were returning students.

In conjunction with this and other changes to come, Kopernik Observatory has changed it's name so as to prevent confusion in light of the recent influx of Kopernik related organizations. It will now be regarded as the Kopernik Observatory & Science Education Center.

From now on, Kopernik supporters should shift their attention and endeavors to the future of Kopernik Observatory's funding. Now separated, we need to assure that Kopernik has sufficient public patronage and support to continue providing it's services. As time passes, we must strive to attain sufficient methods of funding. First in line is becoming a member, donating to Reach For the Stars, or supporting the Link Summer Science Explorations Program by spreading the word.

FACT CHECK

Kopernik is the best-sited and best-equipped public observatory in the northeastern United States, founded by the Kopernik Polish Cultural Society of Broome County in 1973. (Kopernik's Official Site)

Kopernik is home to three telescope domes, containing a 12-inch, a 14-inch, and a 20-inch telescope. These are some of the largest telescopes publicly available on the East Coast. It also owns many smaller telescopes for observing.

School Programs doubled since last year.

Kopernik had a 12% increase in summer programs this year.

Kopernik has had 9,000 visitors already this year.

Kopernik's well equipped dark room is one of the best in the area.
